Focusing on Artwinery, a Bakhmut winery with a centuries-long history and tradition of cultivation and production. The region is currently embroiled in brutal trench warfare while the winery’s millions of bottles of sparkling wine age deep underground in 60 acres of gypsum caves. A great artist form Ukraine - Mila Strugatsky - will share her story on how the war in Ukraine impacted her art. We will have a chance to see beautiful pieces of her art created before and after February 24th, 2022.
Start the evening by tasting hors d'oeuvres paired with the last bottles of Artwinery’s fine sparkling wines available in the U.S. The special guest of the event - Gayle Corrigan - President at Saperavi USA, a Ukrainian and Georgian wine importer, will tell us more about the special wine from Bakhmut (one of the hottest war zones in Ukraine nowadays).
The evening ends with a Ukrainian dessert – Kyiv cake, and a taste of rare Ukrainian dessert wine from Crimea.
A silent auction, including wines that are the last of their kind in the world, will raise money for an important initiative - Rebuilding Cellars to support the Ukrainian Wine Making Reconstruction Fund and Artwinery workers as they gather in a secret location to hand package evacuated wines from Bakhmut to export to the U.S.
Proceeds from tickets sale will benefit Help Ukraine Center USA, a non-profit organization that is a partner of the global volunteer network Help Ukraine Center. Help Ukraine Center is one of the biggest hubs of humanitarian aid in Eastern Europe, delivering humanitarian and medical supplies to Ukraine.
