Ecocide in Ukraine: Book Award Ceremony & Discussion
Main Event Description
Ukrainian scholar Darya Tsymbalyuk will visit Arizona State University on November 5 to receive the 2026 Humanities Institute Book Award for Ecocide in Ukraine: The Environmental Cost of Russia's War.
The book examines the devastating environmental consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine—from contaminated soil and water to destroyed forests, landscapes, and ecosystems—while combining environmental research with a deeply personal portrait of Ukraine.
Following the award ceremony, Tsymbalyuk will give a lecture about the book and participate in a Q&A. A reception, book sale, and book signing will follow.
