Event Description

We're excited to share that Ukraine will once again be featured in the annual Spotlight on Europe Film Festival, hosted by Majestic Theaters in Tempe.

This year's Ukrainian selection is Mavka. The True Myth, a visually stunning film inspired by Ukrainian folklore and the timeless drama The Forest Song by Lesya Ukrainka.

Before the screening, festival organizers have generously invited local Ukrainian organizations to share information about their work with attendees. Cactus & Tryzub is honored to participate alongside other community partners by highlighting opportunities to connect with Arizona's Ukrainian community.

About the Film

Mavka: The True Myth is a live-action Ukrainian fantasy that draws on the darker roots of Ukrainian mythology. Set in modern Ukraine, the film follows a mysterious forest spirit whose encounter with a young student disrupts the boundary between the human and supernatural worlds.
