This October, Cactus & Tryzub welcomes three Ukrainian defenders to Arizona for Voices From Ukraine’s Front Line, a four-day speaking tour bringing firsthand perspectives on Ukraine's war, resilience, and future to audiences across the state.
From the 2014 Revolution of Dignity to service in Ukraine's Armed Forces, each of our guests brings a different perspective shaped by military service, community leadership, and humanitarian work.
Meet the Ukrainian Defenders
Oleh Bonchynskyi — “Bonya”
A Ukrainian veteran and community leader, Oleh has served for more than a decade and continues to support fellow veterans through the Khodoriv Organization for Support of ATO Veterans.
Mykola Melnyk — “Fritz”
A former senior lieutenant and company commander, Mykola combines frontline military experience with a background in law and public policy. He is also the founder and director of Brave Children of Ukraine and author of My Maidan: War. Love. Fight.
Denys Haida — “Rosomakha”
A veteran of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps and Armed Forces of Ukraine, Denys is a humanitarian advocate and founder of Brave Children of Ukraine, an organization supporting children and families affected by the war.
Throughout the tour, the defenders will share their experiences and perspectives on topics including modern warfare, battlefield innovation, drones and emerging technologies, military leadership, and the human realities of Ukraine's defense.
The tour will feature a variety of opportunities to connect with our guests, including panel discussions, community events, book presentations, and interactive Q&A sessions.
