Join the Ukrainian Society of Arizona for a hands-on Pysanky (Ukrainian Easter Egg) Workshop in Tucson. The word pysaty means “to write,” and participants will use wax, a stylus, and colorful dyes to “write” traditional Ukrainian motifs onto eggs using the centuries-old batik method.
Pysanky are one of Ukraine’s most cherished folk traditions. Each color and symbol carries meaning connected to renewal, protection, faith, and the arrival of spring. During the workshop, participants will learn the cultural background of pysanky while creating their own decorated eggs in a welcoming community setting.
This event is organized by Dr. Ihor Kunasz and hosted by the Ukrainian Society of Arizona.
👉 A separate pysanky workshop is also being held in Phoenix, shared on our calendar for those closer to the Valley.
Email Dr. Kunasz at ihor.kunasz@comcast.net for instructions you’ll need before the workshop.
